As mentioned in a previous post, one of the Student Team’s daily duties is to collect data from the Learning Commons. We do this by roving on each floor while we record various types of information on our iPads about how the students are using the building’s facilities. For example, we’re interested in finding out which areas are the most popular and when, where students prefer to print, and what kind of incidents happen during the semester. Then, we analyse the data and create reports that we use to provide evidence-based recommendations to the Library managers to improve the student experience at the Learning Commons.
But this time we wanted to share some of our findings with you! This can help you decide when it’s best to come the Learning Commons to write your assignments, and where you are most likely to find free study spaces.
